Mountview is a drama school based in the heart of Peckham. It has been training performance artists since 1945, and Scenic Arts have been an essential part of Mountview’s production arts training for over 40 years.
Scenic Art and Prop-Making students undergo specialist vocational training for theatre, film, TV and related industries such as theming and heritage. The range of public productions Mountview produces gives a vast array of learning opportunities, with students taking on major roles on shows throughout the year. The course has strong industry links and opportunities for work-based learning, and students learn a range of skills and processes - from traditional and established methods and materials, to new and future-facing technologies.
Modules include puppetry and puppet making, prosthetics and special effects make-up,
painting scenic cloths and gauzes, sculpture, mould making and casting, upholstery, furniture making, and working with timber, plastics, metals, resins, foams and fabrics.
Other vocational undergraduate courses at Mountview include Acting, Musical Theatre, Actor Musician, Lighting, Sound and Stage Management. Postgraduate training includes Theatre Directing, Musical Direction, Creative Producing, Site-Specific Theatre Practice, Theatre for Community and Education, Acting and Musical Theatre.
